The Skinny: The AVP has re-tooled their product and now runs "The League" for the top 8 teams per gender plus to $150,000 "Major" Tournaments, Huntington Beach and Manhatten Beach.  Additionally, they have five $60K Contender Events: Palm Beach, Virginia Beach, Denver, Waupaca, Laguna.    Athletes at the Denver Open will be competing for prize money, points, pride and 2 auto berths in the $150K Manhattan Beach in August.  Punching a ticket to MBO with a Denver win is HUGE. League players can only compete in the Denver Open with a non-League player so look for some interesting pairings.   Don't miss the action.

The Friday  Qualifier: This year the qualifier will only be one day, Friday.  Come cheer on all Colorado's best as our local players compete against top teams from all around the county for a shot at the main draw and even a main draw pro or two (yep, Seain Cook will be in the Quali).   Multiple Colorado Teams will be competing Friday against the best in the nation hoping to crack in to Saturdays Main Draw. The Men's side has 17 local players and the ladies side has over 23, so there are plenty of Colorado Players to cheer for.

The Friday Night Dinner:   The Island will once again host a Friday Night Buffett dinner compliments of US Foods.  Dinner is free for all competing qualifier and main draw athletes and along with a complimentary Sun Cruiser Cocktail.  And Rob Wivchar will be providing the entertainment.  So if you are playing in the Denver Open, join us for a killer spread, and if you are a fan, join the fun.  If you are not a player, you can pre-purchase through Thursday for $25 (link) or pay $40 at the event.

The Main Draw: 24 teams per gender will compete in the Main Draw Saturday and Sunday including 16 auto-seeds and 8 teams from the Friday Qualifier. Come out and cheer on our Colorado teams and watch your favorite pros.  Competition will begin with modified 4 team pool play advancing the top 3 teams into a single elimination bracket later in the day.  The top teams will advance to Sundays play.

Colorado Connections: Beach Bash Doubles is a qualifier for this event, placing one Colorado team per gender in the Denver Open Main Draw.  Congratulations to our local main draw athletes:   Lindsey Jin / Kylin Lokar and Ian Carlson / Skylar Del Sol.  Additionally, Gage and Lars Basey are seeded 11th and fresh of wins at Pottstown and the Virginia Open and our own Nemanja (Nemo) Komar is seeded 6th with some guy named Trevor Crabb.   So Colorado has some great representation already in the main draw.

The Tour Pros:   Once again, some of the biggest names in Volleyball will be on the sand at the Island for the Denver Open.  This year, you can look forward to Evan Cory, back to defend his win last year with Troy Field as a Partner.  And 2023 Denver Open winner Billy Allen will be teaming up with Indoor Olympian Paul Lotman.  League Players are only allowed to compete with a non-league partner ranked 50th or lower.  So a huge thanks to this crew for playing with the next wave:  Tayler Crabb, Geena Urango, Trevor Crabb, Logan Webber, Seain Cook, Megan Rice, and Hagen Smith
